Selfie Stick Style, Miami Swim Week, Having it All

Welcome to another edition of Pop Fashion podcast! This week in hot topics - Walmart is accused of using shell companies to dodge taxes, a selfie stick dress by Pucci is a fashion marker for 2015, and Zara faces a lawsuit by a former employee who alleges discrimination. In other news, IMG pulled out of Miami Swim Week. But, do not despair! Two other organizations picked up the slack, thus making the entire event a logistical mess. In technology news - a new type of sensor can be worn on clothing or skin to detect toxic gasses, UV radiation, and other pollutants. Will all of that monitoring drive us nuts? Also, workers in a Chinese factory are on a hunger strike to protest the company moving to another country. Additionally, a J.Crew employee posts #hungergames photos on Instagram, and Lisa explains why doctors have white coats.

Our main topic is about having it all. What does it mean to have it all? Does it apply to everyone? And, why are we even chasing after it in the first place?

Come hang out!

Welcome to another edition of Pop Fashion podcast! This week in hot topics - Gap is closing 175 stores, CVS is buying pharmacies in Target, and Elie Tahari is facing a $12 million sexual harassment lawsuit. Also, virtual reality fitting rooms are becoming an actuality (and people are starting to make Minority Report comparisons), but are we ready for that type of retail technology? Additionally, Michael Kors reached a settlement for (allegedly) pricing items incorrectly - which takes Kaarin and Lisa down a road of trash talking outlet shopping. Would you wear your mother’s wedding dress? How about a dress that has been handed down 127 years? Lisa brings a cool story to the podcast about a family that passed down a wedding gown for generations. Finally, did you know that the CIA had a hand in promoting the American Expressionism Art Movement as part of a larger propaganda ploy? Yeah, we didn’t know that either.

Our main topic this week is about creative inertia. What happens when we feel creative block? How does it behave, and what are some ways that we can move forward? Come hang out!

J.Crew in Trouble?, Thongs vs Granny Panties, Self Promotion Approaches

Welcome to another edition of Pop Fashion podcast! This week in hot topics - J.Crew announces corporate layoffs, Procter & Gamble sells off their famous beauty brands (i.e. CoverGirl), and Marc Jacobs reveals Willow Smith and Cher as his models for Fall 2015. In lingerie news, why are women buying granny panties over thongs? Also, the Rana Plaza Trust Fund hit its funding goal, but is it too little too late? And, are journalists to blame for not placing enough emphasis on fashion’s part with climate change?

Our main topic is about self promotion! How can we promote our work without coming across like a jerk? How much self promotion is too much? Come hang out!

Lauren Conrad’s Banned Words, Tailoring on Demand, Vacation Tips

Welcome to another edition of Pop Fashion podcast! This week in hot topics - Band of Outsiders might join the Retail Death Watch list, Dov Charney is back to his old tricks again (but American Apparel isn't playing games this time around), and fashion brands are banking on Instagram as their social media platform of choice. In other news, Lilly Pulitzer is in the spotlight after a New York magazine article gets them in hot water, and Almay's "Simply American" campaign may be stretching the truth. Police in Bangladesh filed formal murder charges against 41 people in connection to the Rana Plaza Factory collapse. Also, zTailors may be the wave of the future when it comes to hemming your pants, and Lauren Conrad is receiving accolades after banning three words from her website.

Our main topic for the week is all about vacation! Scientific studies have shown that vacation is good for our brains, so why do we have a hard time disconnecting? Are there ways to successfully take time off from our jobs? Is it different for freelancers? Come hang out!
